Mary's Sea Food Restaurant
Biker Rally weekend in Rocky Point was held Nov 5-8, 2009. Steph and I were in town for the Rally and spent Saturday afternoon people watching and enjoying the hundreds of custom bikes at the Malécon/Shrimp market. The Penasco police blocked the shrimp market area from automobile traffic and allowed only motorcycles. Bikes were lined up all the way down the main drag. You can view pictures of the rally on our Biker Rally page. Right Next to Falivos We grabbed a bite to eat at the newly renovated restaurant on the Malecon named Mary’s Sea Food Restaurant located right next to Falivos as you come around the curve. They have a great view from their roof top seating of the Sea of Cortez and the resorts of Sandy Beach. October is shrimping season in Puerto Penasco. The view from Mary’s roof top of the shrimping boats coming into the port with their load was an impressive sight. I wondered if our oversized lunch was on one of those boats. Try the Seafood Combo Sampler! Speaking of lunch you should have see ours. That was impressive. Steph and I shared the sea food combo sampler. We had heard about the platter from some people we had met at Las Palomas and we were anxious to give it a try. It included breaded fish, grilled fish, cajon fish, breaded shrimp, garlic butterfly shrimp, and cajun butterfly shrimp with avocado salad and limes. Wonderful. Look at the size of those shrimp! Everything tasted like it was fresh right off the boat. The combo platter cost us $30.00 dollars for the two of us. You can buy a sampler for 4 people at $43.00 dollars. A bargain in our opinion for what you get. Beers were given away at $2.00 a bottle. Mary’s menu also includes tacos, foiled sea food soup, lemon cooked shrimp, quesadelas, cevecha and many other dished. ~Catch a Sight of a Sea Lion Mary’s has two floors. If it’s not too crowed try to sit on the roof top seating. You might be able to sight a stray sea lion in the Sea of Cortez every now and then as Steph and I did one afternoon. Watching the pelicans sunning them self on the rocky shore line is also a treat. There is a bar upstairs with covered seating. The second floor also has a seating area with a good view of the Malécon. Clean bathrooms are also located upstairs. And on a regular basis you can be sure that the mariachi band will come to entertain you. Have a good meal and a relaxing time at Mary’s Sea Food Restaurant! Kyle and Steph
