Sandy Beach Resort Living, Rocky Point

~Puerto Penasco, Rocky Point is a short 4 hour drive from Phoenix. Known as the Arizona Beach, it is a resort destination for many Arizonians. It will soon be the next Cabo San Lucas and Puerto Vallarta.  As you reach the town limits of Puerto Penasco just 54 miles south of the Sonoyta/Lukeville border, you see on the horizon the resort towers on Sandy Beach. Here you’ll find Las Palomas Seaside Golf Community, the Sonoran Resorts, Sandy Beach Resorts, Puerta Privada, Playa del Sol, Bella Sirena and the American expatriate enclave of Cholla Bay.  Drive through town and you'll met up with Mirador and the community of Las Conchas. Drive another hour south of Puerto Penasco toward Carborca and you’ll be greeted by the Mayan Palace La Jolla de Cortes situated on the Estuary La Pinta.

Warm Beaches and Vacation Homes
My wife and I love it here in Rocky Point - warm beaches, friendly people, slower way of life and all the comforts of home.  What else do you need to make the move to Puerto Penasco, Mexico and buy a vacation home on Sandy Beach? Resort living has finally come to Rocky Point. Once a party beach that hosted the bon fires and tents of college kids from the states, condominium resorts and golf courses have sprouted from the white sands on the Sea of Cortez.

Resorts of Rocky Point
Over the last 6 years, many new resorts have been completed or are in various stages of completion.  Marriott International has agreed to manage a new resort hotel and time share which is to be developed on Sandy Beach by the closely held beer bottler Grupo International. Abigail Properties of Scottsdale, Arizona and World Wide Group of Mexico developed the 4 star rated - by AAA - Las Palomas Seaside Golf Resort. Grupo Mayan, known throughout Latin America for it’s Mayan Palace Resort brands, developed Mayan Palace La Jolla de Cortes south of Rocky Point. Sonoran Resorts began development in Rocky Point with the Sonoran Spa in 1999 and has since finished 3 additional resorts on Sandy Beach.
Long time Cholla bay developers Sandy Beach Resorts is currently building the Esmerelda and Casa Blanca Golf Villas just north of Las Palomas on Sandy Beach.

For those individuals looking for a little more privacy, Puerta Privada is the only non-rental condominium resort in Rocky Point.

Rocky Point Golf Tournaments
What would a resort destination be without signature golf courses? Rocky Point plays host to several international golf tournaments, including The Sea of Cortez Peninsula, Arizona Wildcat Invitational at the Mayan Palace, In November, The Links at Las Palomas will host their 4th Annual International Golf Tournament.  Laguna del Mar has completed construction of its Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course and Casa Blanca Golf Villas sports a putting course surrounded by condos and million dollar plus homes.
