Puesta del Sol

Chefs from Puesta del Sol were on hand to impress the crowed at the 4th annual Puerto Peńasco Camerón Fiesta 2009. The sound of music filled the air and dancers entertained as the chefs cooked up their special shrimp dishes. You can view a short clip of their handy work on the right.

Enjoyable and Relaxing Dinner

In our opinion, probably the most enjoyable and relaxing dinners in Rocky Point is at the Puesta del Sol restaurant on the Playa Bonita Hotel grounds.   If you are staying in the Sandy Beach area, this place is worth trying.   Puesta Del Sol is within walking distant of the many resorts. One of the benefits of eating and drinking here is that you can walk the beach home if you have one too many cervazas or margaritas.

Offers View of the Sea of Cortez

A balloon man wanders the tables creating figures at children's request.   Mariachis occasionally make the rounds and DJ’s play on Saturday nights.  Puesta Del Sol offers spectacular views of the Sea of Cortez, with beautiful sunsets and good food at moderate prices.  Shop at your table while waiting for your dinner to arrive. Vendors on the beach try to entice. If you make eye contact, they will come to the rail to display their wares. If your lucky, as we were, you may also see horses galloping magnificently on the beach. See a short clip of horse back riding on Sandy Beach here

Ask of the Ceviche

Want ceviche?  It’s not on the menu, but ask for it.  Ceviche is shrimp cooked in lime juice mixd with onion, tomato and cucumber. The acid from the lime juice actually cooks the shrimp. Its served on a platter with guacamole and tostadas. Steamed clams and Fish Florentine with spinach cream sauce are our two favorites dinner dishes.  The Florentine is served with baked potato and steamed vegetables. They have fish and shrimp prepared many different ways. You are sure to find something to suit your tastes.

While you are there, order their margaritas.  Good flavor and very strong.  Puesta Del Sol has two bars outdoors and an indoor bar with a small stage and satellite television. The Playa Bonita hotel is next door and just to the north of the restaurant is their RV parking center.

Steph and I recommend that you give Puesta del Sol a try!
Kyle.
